Biography

American director and actor Leonard Nimoy was born on March 26, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is most famous for playing the role of the half-human, half-Vulcan Spock in the Star Trek sci-fi franchise, gaining a number of Emmy nominations for the character. The son of Jewish immigrants from Russia, Nimoy pursued his acting career in lieu of formal education, spending the early years of his career in several serials, television series, and movies. He also served for a time in the U.S. Army Reserve, attaining the rank of sergeant. Aside from his acting, he has also performed as a musician, and has published autobiographies of his life.

Spock is an iconic character portrayed by Lenoard Nimoy in the classic sci-fi television series Star Trek. The half-Vulcan, half-human science officer and first officer of the USS Enterprise, he serves under the command of Starfleet Captain James T. Kirk. He constantly undergoes internal struggles between the emotional, human side of his being and his coolly logical, Vulcan self. After he graduated from Starfleet Academy, Spock went on to serve on the Enterprise alongside Kirk and Dr. Leonard McCoy, with the three of them developing strong bonds of friendship and professional camaraderie.
