English actress Lena Headey was born on October 3, 1973 in Bermuda, where he father, a police officer, was assigned. Her family returned to their hometown of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire when she was eight years old. She started her interest in acting while studying at Shelley College, and got her big break at age 17, when she was spotted in a school production that was held at the Royal National Theatre in London. She was cast as the young Mary, appearing opposite Jeremy Irons in the 1992 film Waterland.
She quickly made appearances in television, beginning with the television film Clothes in the Wardrobe, and becoming a guest star on British programs Spender and Soldier Soldier. She starred in the Oscar-nominated film The Remains of the Day, where she appeared with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. This was followed by films such as Century, The Jungle Book, The Grotesque, Face, Mrs. Dalloway and The Man with Rain in His Shoes.
Headey continued acting as the 2000s approached, starring in films such as The Parole Officer, No Verbal Response, and The Cave. She started appearing in major American releases, such as The Brothers Grimm, released in 2005, where she starred alongside Matt Damon and Heath Ledger. She became more known in 2007 for her role in Zack Snyder’s film adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel, 300; she played Queen Gorgo, King Leonidas’ (Gerard Butler) wife.
Headey is currently the lead in the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, where she plays Sarah Connor, the mother of John Connor (Thomas Dekker) who is set to be the future leader of the human resistance. The series, which premiered in 2007, is set after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day; it was recently brought back for a second season, to be aired in 2008.
