Lacey Schwimmer Photos Exclusive Interview with Lacey Schwimmer Born on June 28, 1988, Lacey-Mae Schwimmer is a professional ballroom dancer and multiple youth championships winner best known for her fourth place finish on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. She was also cast on the 7th season of Dancing with the Stars with ‘N Sync former member Lance Bass. At that time, she was the only former contestant of So You Think You Can Dance who was cast as a regular on Dancing with the Stars.
Schwimmer is also the cousin of David Schwimmer, a well-known cast member of the Emmy Award-winning TV sitcom Friends. Raised in a family of competitive dancers, and is the younger sister of So You Think You Can Dance second season champion Benji Schwimmer, as well as the daughter of West Coast Swing dancer Buddy Schwimmer. She has been dancing competitively since she was young, and participated at the age of seven in the 1995 U.S. Open Dance Championship with her partner Brian Cordoba. Her nicknames include Birdie, Sissyduckling, Macy Gray, and Lace-Face.
Schwimmer has garnered a number of awards, such as 1st place in the Youth U.S. National Swing Championships, and 1st place in the 2006 U.S. National Youth Latin Championships. Lacey says that she was inspired by her favorite professional dancer Cyd Charisse, especially after seeing her in the film Singin’ in the Rain. She joined the 2007 dance tour of the 2007 season top ten of So You Think You Can Dance. She classifies her techniques and dancing style as a mix of International Latin and West Coast Swing. Aside from dancing, she also enjoys hobbies such as painting and sunbathing.
Schwimmer’s other awards include the top prize at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championships; Young America Division (6-12 years) with Partner: Blace Thompson in 1998, then climbing an age group and still winning in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2007
