Sweet P was educated at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. As she grew up, she developed a passion for surfing and vintage clothing, which later led her to sketch new outfits for her favorite show, Sonny and Cher. While in college, she joined an underground club scene which enabled her to make her own outfits. She made a small collection of club wear and sold it to a few stores in Los Angeles. Her line, Sweet P, which she named after herself, evolved from club wear to retro, but closed after five years. She then moved on to work for Bebe before she was asked to work on a sleepwear line. Vaughn left the job after two years, and then worked for Harkham.
Kathleen “Sweet P” Vaughn gained fame for her appearance on season 4 of Bravo’s Project Runway as one of the 15 contestants. She was eliminated on episode 11. Since then, she has launched a collaborative project with her husband called “Ghosts in the Garden.” She continued designing for her own company and has created a line of make-up as well. Later on, she was asked to compete on the Project Runway All-Star Challenge and earned third place. In 2011, Lifetime announced that Sweet P would be one of the contestants of Project Runway All Stars in 2012.
