Sarah Lancaster took up acting classes when she and her family relocated to Mission Viejo, California. There, she was spotted by a talent agent, which led to her first regular television role, in Saved by the Bell: The New Class. The series wrapped in 1996; by then she moved to Los Angeles to further pursue her career.
Most of Lancaster's early roles were guest bits in shows such as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Undressed and Scrubs. She took her first major recurring role in 2003, when she joined the cast of the drama Everwood, as the controversial Madison Kellner.
After a stint on the short-lived Dr. Vegas, Lancaster joined the cast of ABC's What About Brian, appearing as Marjorie Seaver, a woman torn between two men. Shortly after the show wrapped up in 2007, she joined the cast of NBC's Chuck as Ellie Bartowski, the sister of Zachary Levi's title character.
Lancaster has also appeared in several films, notably in a minor role on the Steven Spielberg film Catch Me If You Can.
