Michelle Hurd graduated from Boston University in 1988, and later studies at the Alvin Ailey School and the National Theatre in London. She began her career on stage, and later becoming an acclaimed Broadway veteran, notably appearing in the Stephen Sondheim co-write Getting Away With Murder. She also appeared in several movies, notably in Random Hearts and Double Parked.
Hurd is, however, best known for her television work. She held recurring roles in Law & Order: SVU, ER and Gossip Girl, and also appeared in the Showtime series Leap Year, alongside her real-life husband Garret Dillahunt. In 2010 she joined the cast of the A&E series The Glades.
