Biography

Born on November 29, 1982 in Decatur, Alabama, Lucas York Black is an American film and television actor. He graduated from high school in May 2001 and played football for the Speake Bobcats.

Lucas Black had no formal acting lessons, but made his film debut in 1994, appearing on Kevin Costner’s film The War. He was only 11 at the time. This was followed by his being cast in the series American Gothic, where he portrayed the character Caleb Temple. The series didn’t last very long, running from 1995 to 1996, but Lucas Black was cast in several other films. His next project was the drama Sling Blade in 1996. He was then given a role in Ghosts of Mississippi, before guest-starring in an episode of Chicago Hope in 1997. That year, he was cast as Connor Strong in the made-for-TV movie Flash. It was aired on The Wonderful World of Disney. The next year, Black appeared on an episode of The X Files. He then lent his voice to a character in 1999’s animated family drama Our Friend, Martin.

Lucas Black also modeled for Calvin Klein jeans before he landed the role of Peter Joseph “Peejoe” Bullis in Crazy in Alabama. In 2000, he starred alongside Matt Damon in All the Pretty Horses. He was also cast in the TV movie The Miracle Worker that year. Black can also be seen as Oakley in 2003’s Cold Mountain, which also stars Jude Law and Nicole Kidman. He is also known for his performance in Friday Night Lights, as the character Mike Winchell. In 2005, he appeared in Jarhead and played the lead role in the third installment of the film series The Fast and the Furious. His role in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift paired him with actor-rapper Bow Wow.
