Lil Rounds

Biography

Lil Rounds, born on November 14, 1984, is one of the finalists on the eighth season of American Idol. Currently married with three kids, she currently lives in Memphis, Tennessee, and was affected by the tornadoes that hit the city last year, forcing her and her family to live in a hotel pending reconstruction of their home.

Rounds became known for her stint on American Idol, which she joined through auditions in Kansas City, Missouri. The judges instantly liked her soulful vocals, describing her as a breath of fresh air and unanimously sending her to Hollywood. Similarly, she was a success on those auditions, and was an easy choice to join the Top 36—a move which led observers to describe her as a favorite of the producers. She was later described as being similar in style to Mary J. Blige—perhaps buoyed by her performance of one of the singer’s songs during the semifinals—and was sent to the Top 12.
