Born on March 20, 1963 in Glendale, California, Kathy Ireland is an actress, model, and designer of her eponymous brand product marketing company Kathy Ireland Worldwide. The daughter of a labor union organizer, Ireland was discovered for the Elite Model Management company, and she has worked steadily as a model by the time she graduated from high school. Starting off in 1984, she had been featured in the annual Swimsuit Issue 13 consecutive years before making her final appearance in 1996. She also graced the cover of the annual issue three times, something that only Christine Brinkley and Cheryl Tiegs have done, and only Elle Macpherson had surpassed.
Ireland, meanwhile, made her professional acting debut in 1988 with Alien from L.A., with appearances on such shows as Melrose Place, Side Out, Mr. Destiny, Loaded weapon 1, Once Upon a Christmas, Twice Upon a Christmas, and Necessary Roughness. She then made ventured into business as her line of socks become a best-seller for Kmart, after which she subsequently had her own clothing line. It was then when she founded Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a brand product marketing company. Kathy Ireland has also written five books, three for kids, with a sixth book in the offing. In 2009, she was cast as one of the celebrities on the ninth season of Dancing with the Stars.
