Justin Kirk is an American actor who made a name for himself on cable TV, first for playing Prior Walter in the HBO series Angels in America and for portraying Andy Botwin in Showtime's Weeds. His other famous roles include Chapter Zero, The Eden Myth, Puccini for Beginners, Flannel Pajamas, and Call o' the Glen.
Though Kirk was born in Salem, Oregon, he was raised in Union, Washington where he studied grade school on a Native American reservation. He then moved to New York after finishing high school and completed a two-year conservatory acting program at Circle in the Square.
Kirk, who first got his break on the TV series Jack & Jill, also ventured into Broadway where he received several recognitions. He was first cast in Any Given Day and then in Love! Valour! for which he received an Obie Award for Distinguished Performance in the Ensemble. He also notably won a Back Stage West Garland Award for Outstanding Performance on his role of a piano prodigy in Old Wicked Songs.
