Glover received a Tony Award in 1995 for his appearance in the play Love! Valour! Compassion! He reprised his acclaimed portrayal of both John and James Jeckyll in the movie version in 1997.

Glover's first major television role was in The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd, where he held a recurring role from 1988. He appeared as a regular in the short-lived Fox series Brimstone, playing the devil.
