Jessica Ann Sierra was born November 11, 1985 in Tampa, Florida. She started singing at the age of three and became a member of the local church choir. During her teenage years, she had the opportunity to perform for former presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush. She was with a dancing and singing group then.
From Florida, she traveled to Orlando just to audition for the fourth season of the reality TV talent search American Idol
in 2005. She was chosen as one of the top 12 finalists but was eventually eliminated. She became the third contestant to be voted off from the show. She also competed on Star Search in 2004.
In 2006, Sierra made news when stalker Daniel Young, a 59-year-old man, was arrested at her grandmother's home. After the incident, Sierra participated in campaigns that promoted awareness on the risks and remedies of stalking.
Also in 2006, Sierra recorded a song entitled “Unbroken” and it was included in an exclusive CD for Toys “R” Us. The song was released as a single after a year. She has also written and recorded songs with producer Nick Brophy, and has co-written some songs with Joy Vassar.
In 2007, she was detained after throwing a cocktail glass at a man's face in Hyde Park Café. Arresting officers reported that Sierra kept on kicking the squad car's window, and when she was brought to the Orient Road Jail, cocaine was found from her purse. She faced charges of battery and possession of cocaine. After a month, she misbehaved again and was kept in custody due to charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest.
In 2008, Jessica Sierra
appeared on VH1's reality TV series Celebrity Rehab
. The show documents the experiences of celebrities as they undergo drug, alcohol and addiction treatment program. It chronicles their journey towards rehabilitation and recovery. Jessica sought help for her addiction to alcohol and drugs.
