A native of Strasburg, Pennsylvania, James Wolpert is a student of Lampeter-Strasburg High School. Other than nursing his dreams for a shot at fame, he spends most of his time immersed in the arts. He has developed a passion for drawing and sketching, as well as writing music and poetry. He has been known to write in his journal every day, while playing in a cover band called Mr. Smith. Some of the songs that his band has covered include the rock song “My Sharona.” Still in awe from being cast in the ABC reality series, a part of the High School Musical franchise, James Wolpert said that his life suddenly went for an unexpected turn. His parents, George and Margie Wolpert, were the ones who secretly nominated James for the show, sending a videotape of him for the audition. Wolpert is not new to the stage, and has performed in school productions like Les Miserables and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
“I am not the most well trained singer in the country,” reported James Wolpert, “but I will definitely rock you so hard.” Wolpert was chosen as one of the 12 finalists for the ABC reality series High School Musical: Get in the Picture. Hosted by actor and musician Nick Lachey, the series follows the efforts of the teenage contestants to win the ultimate prize for a High School Musical fan. The winner will get to star in his or her own music video featured in the end credits of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, and receive a chance to have a recording contract for two singles with Walt Disney Records.
