Twenty-two-year-old Heather Phillips comes from New York City. She was born into a big Italian family in which she was the only person who took an interest in dancing. She started being active on the dance floor at the very young age of two. The studio, which was put up by her very own mom, became her second home. Heather trained in contemporary, ballet, pointe, tap, partnering and hip-hop. Of all the dance styles, her favorite is jazz and contemporary because they allow her to be flexible. Her theatrical performances include being cast for The Nutcracker, Odyssey and Aida. She also played a part in the TV-movie High School Musical
One of the songs that make her want to get up and dance is “Walking on Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox. The highlights of her career are studying at the EDGE Performing Arts Center in L.A., and being cast for Andrew Lloyd's award-winning musical Cats, which also happens to be her dream show. One of her most unforgettable experiences was during the culmination of her scholarship with EDGE, where she watched and performed in what she calls an amazing showcase of talents.
Her father, Stephen Phillips, is 54 years old and comes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The father and daughter became close only recently when Heather's parents ended their relationship.Heather and Stephen
Phillips are one of the ten competing pairs on the Lifetime TV reality series Your Mama Don't Dance
. Dubbed as the dance competition with a twist, contestants on the show auditioned without knowing that their dancing partners would be their very own parents. Five male contestants and five female contestants would foxtrot and mambo with their mothers and fathers as they compete to win the title and the $100,000 cash prize. Heather believes that they will win because they have the drive and the work ethic. She also hopes that she will bond more with her father throughout the show.
