Born April 1, 1981, Hannah Spearritt began her career at age 3, when she modeled in a shopping catalog. At age 12, she starred in the Great Yarmouth Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society’s production of Annie, and pursued a theater career further when she joined the National Youth Music Theater. She appeared in their productions of Pendragon, in 1994 and Tin Pan Ali, in 1996. She was also part of the original cast for the West End production of the 1997 musical Bugsy Malone.
After a small role in the television film The Cater Street Hangman, as well as appearances in Blue Peter, she auditioned for the musical group S Club 7. She joined the group in 1999, and eventually released three studio albums with them. She co-starred, along with other members of the group, in their own television series: 1999’s Miami 7, 2000’s L.A. 7, 2001’s Hollywood 7, and 2002’s Viva S Club. The group also won two Brit Awards, among others. When former boyfriend Paul Cattermole left the group in 2002, the group became known only as S Club; in 2003, that group appeared in the film Seeing Double.
Spearritt then appeared in the 2004 film Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, opposite Frankie Muniz. That same year, she was cast in a minor role in the horror flick Seed of Chucky. After taking a short hiatus in acting, she had a minor role in the BBC sitcom Blessed, as a member of a fake girl band. In 2006, she starred in the science fiction series Primeval, as reptile enthusiast Abby Maitland, who searches for a species of reptile that she hasn’t encountered while getting entangled in the adventures of Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall). She is also set to make a guest appearance in the mystery series Marple.
