Born on February 11, 1956 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Catherine Hickland is a singer and actress who has made her mark on the world of soap operas. She was educated at Florida Atlantic University, majoring in physical education. She dropped out after two years to pursue an acting career.
In 1980, she appeared as Dr. Courtney Marshall on Texas and since then has gotten roles on soap operas such as Capitol, Loving and The City. In 1998, she was cast as Lindsay Buchanan on One Life to Live. She was originally holding a contract role on the series, but was bumped down to recurring status in May 2005. However, as of January 2008, she appeared in the show’s opening credits.
Catherine Hickland began her career during the 1970s. She first appeared in Vega$, and the TV movie The Seeding of Sarah Burns. Her other roles were in ChiPs, Airwolf and Knight Rider, as well as in Werewolf. In 1987, she landed a brief stint on the soap The Bold and the Beautiful, temporarily replacing Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan. This was followed by roles in Taxi Killer, Robowar: Robot da Guerra, and in Ghost Town. In 1991, she landed a part in the films Miliardi, and was in Sweet Justice the next year. In 2001 and 2005, she was seen in two Law & Order series, namely Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Hickland has also released her CD, titled Sincerely Broadway in 2001. Active in theater as well, she has appeared in several off-Broadway plays like Boys on the Side and Love Letters. She was also cast in the role of Fantine in the Broadway production of Les Miserables.
In addition, the actress is known for owning a cosmetics company called Cat Cosmetics. She has also been writing a column on skin care for Soap Opera Digest.
