Actor Brett Davern grew up in Edmonds, Washington and thought he’d never make it to Hollywood. But his love of the stage soon developed, and he started performing in local theatres. He then earned a scholarship to "Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center” in New York, pursuing his dream further by enrolling at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City. After graduation, he booked a role in Chad Lowe’s directorial debut, Beautiful Ohio in 2006. He later appeared in Player 5150 before taking a role in CSI: Miami in 2009. He continued working on television, starring in Cold Case, In Plain Sight, The Deep End and Medium. He was later seen on the coming-of-age comedy Pool Boys and the indie feature Junk. Davern was also seen playing the character Whisper in the film Triple Dog. In 2011, he was cast as Jake Rosati on the MTV series Awkward. He described his character as fun and honest, smart and outgoing.
