Born on February 7, 1978 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ashton Kutcher is an actor best known for his MTV celebrity prank show Punk’d, his role on the long-running comedy series That 70s Show, a string of teen movies, and his romantic relationship with actress Demi Moore. The son of a Procter and Gamble employee and a General Mills factory, Kutcher has a fraternal twin, Billy Jean, who had a heart transplant when the two were young. His childhood is a typical Midwesterner’s, working odd jobs such as carpentry and farm-related jobs. He attended Washington High School when the family moved to Tiffin, Iowa, and eventually Clear Creek-Amana High School. He played on the football team and appeared in school plays. He said that his family life was so bad (his parents divorced) that he contemplated committing suicide, attempting to jump from a hospital balcony when he was 13. During high school, he was caught stealing money from his high school.
Kutcher majored in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa. His college life was so messed up, but he got a break when he won the Fresh Faces of Iowa modeling competition. It won him a trip to New York for the International Modeling and Talent Association. He went back to Cedar Rapids, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
In 1997, Kutcher signed his first modeling deal, appearing in ads for Calvin Klein which took him to Paris and Milan. He caught his first break when he bagged the role of Michael Kelso in the long-running comedy That 70s Show. His other film credits include Pearl Harbor, Dude, Where’s My Car, Just Married, Cheapter by the Dozen, and the box office hit The Butterfly Effect. In 2003, he produced and starred on his own show on MTV Punk’d, plus other reality shows Beauty and the Geek, The Real Wedding Crashers, and Opportunity Knocks.
Among those Kutcher dated include January Jones, Ashley Scott, Brittany Murphy, and Demi Moore, who was 15 years older than him. The two married in September 2005 in a private ceremony.
