British actor Ed Westwick was born on June 27, 1987 in Stevenage, England. He trained as an actor at the National Youth Theatre in London, and eventually made his television debut in 2006, as a guest in the British medical drama Doctors. His initial television credits also include guest roles in other British television series: the medical drama Casualty, and the supernatural drama Afterlife. He made his film debut in 2006, when he played a minor role in Alfonso Cuar?n’s critically-acclaimed film Children of Men.
Westwick has appeared in two other films: the romantic comedy Breaking and Entering, which starred Jude Law and Juliette Binoche; and the comedy Son of Rambow, which starred Will Poulter and Bill Milner. He, however, got wide recognition when he was cast in the CW’s series Gossip Girl. Based on Cecily von Ziegesar’s popular book series of the same name, the television drama sees Westwick play the role of Chuck Bass, the son of a self-made billionaire and hotel mogul. His character is the playboy of the series—he’s primarily interested in sex, money, and just that, and is accepted by others despite not having any friends because his parents are part of the most elite social circles in Manhattan.
