Megan Mullally was born on November 12, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. When she was seven, her family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her father was a contract player with Paramount Pictures during the 1950s and her mother was a model. At a young age she studied ballet and performed in a ballet company. She says that she spent her summers in Los Angeles due to the nature of her mother's work. Mullally moved to Los Angeles in 1981 as a client in William Morris Agency. Two weeks later she was given small projects for films and television shows. She first appeared on The Ellen Burstyn Show and later on had appearances in
Seinfeld , Frasier, Wings, Ned and Stacey, Mad About You, and Just Shoot Me!. In 1998 she was cast as Karen Walker for
Will & Grace .
