With the fourth season of
Weeds coming to a close, fans hope are already excited for the fifth and final season of the series, which hits television screens in 2009. Meanwhile, the actors and actresses are busy tending to other projects and recently,
Justin Kirk, who plays Andy Botwin in the series, spoke to the LA Times to reveal what he has been doing for the past couple of weeks.
“I trucked out to New York for a while, went up to Cape Cod and saw a friend's play, who was one of the writers on Weeds. You know--trying to get a job,” Botwin says. He adds that because this last season of Weeds was short, he was able to work on a few films in between.
”The great thing about our gig is the season is extremely short. It's hard to call nine months a hiatus,” he continues. “I told my agent last year I wanted eight [movies], but I wouldn't feel like a failure if we only got five. We did three.”
Additionally, Kirk says that despite being at work for most of the past months, he says there’s no place he’d rather be. He admits, “It's always worth it. I live on the soundstage. If I'm not there I don't know who I am. That may not look that good in print. Honestly, I do like to work: I'm not married, I don't have any kids.”
Aside from working on his film and TV career, Kirk admits that he is passionate about music, and is thankful that through
Weeds, he was able to meet a few of his favorite musical artists.
“What may prove to be one of the best parts of the legacy of
Weeds in my life, is I've gotten to meet a couple of my rock heroes,” he revealed. “I found out that Bob Mould, from Hüsker Dü, is a Weeds fan, so I e-mailed him and went to his show and gave him Season 3. That was bizarre and cool.”
Justin Kirk also admits to being a geek about meeting Redd Kross, the Pistols and Steve McDonald, whom he actually got to hang out with. He calls them his “childhood rock heroes.”
Catch more of Justin Kirk on tonight’s episode of
Weeds, when Nancy and Esteban try to find time for each other despite their busy schedules, while Nancy deals with her knowledge about Shane’s fantasies and Silas’s older girlfriend. Nancy tries to talk to the boys while Andy and Doug encounter a little trouble with the El Coyote in Mexico.
Weeds airs tonight at 10pm on Showtime.
