Just what are they doing to
Ugly Betty season 4 with all these guest stars lined up? We just
reported yesterday that Jamie-Lynn Sigler will appear as Daniel's assistant on the show. Now, another update has been posted for even more stars on the guest list. This is certainly some intense name-dropping for such a hit series.
According to
TV Guide, a couple more ladies will be making their way to the set of
Ugly Betty. The first one is songstress Shakira, who's been called up to play herself on an upcoming episode of the show. The second is supermodel Christie Brinkley, with a role as a competing fashion editor.
ABC has confirmed that the two women will be seen on an episode that will mostly take place in the Bahamas. We heard how Betty (America Ferrera) and her new staff will be traveling there for a photo shoot, but who would've thought they'd run into Shakira?
Ugly Betty executive producer Silvio Horta revealed that the Colombian pop star will eventually be saving the day, as things go awry for the Mode crew. On an interview with
People, Horta explained why they thought Shakira was perfect for the show.
"We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to 'Hips Don't Lie,'" Horta said. "We've mentioned her several times over the course of the series and have always wanted to work with her. She's an enormous Latina icon, as is Betty, and we thought it was a perfect fit."
Another surprise is that Justin (Mark Indelicato), Betty's nephew, might be on the trip as well. "Justin's the one who know's [Shakira's] alias," Horta hinted.
As for Christie Brinkley, her role will be more villainous as opposed to the Good Samaritan one of Shakira. The swimsuit model will portray the character Penelope Gaybridge, the editor of a rival fashion magazine.
Though new to the acting arena, it's still an exciting turn of events for the CoverGirl icon. Unfortunately, she won't be heading to the sand and surf of the Bahamas. Christie's scenes will primarily take place in New York, where most of
Ugly Betty is filmed.
The
Ugly Betty episode - titled "The Bahamas Triangle" - featuring these two starlets will most likely air in November, as the stars of the series are currently on location filming it.
