UFC 74: Respect - Full Fight Card is Impressive
The upcoming UFC 74: Respect is a month away, but the announced fights are enough to make MMA fans salivate.  The event is primed to be a memorable evening.  The main attraction will, of course, be the heavyweight title bout between reigning champion Randy Couture and Brazilian Gabriel Gonzaga, who most recently shocked the world by knocking out Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovich with a vicious high kick at UFC 70.  UFC 74: Stacked will take place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 25.  Here is the full fight card:

Heavyweight championship bout: Randy Couture vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Welterweight bout: Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck
Lightweight bout: Joe Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegrino
Middleweight bout: Patrick Côté vs. Kendall Grove
Lightweight bout: Roger Huerta vs. Alberto Crane

Preliminary card

Light Heavyweight bout: Renato Sobral vs. David Heath
Middleweight bout: Travis Lutter vs. Ryan Jensen
Heavyweight bout: Frank Mir vs Antoni Hardonk
Lightweight bout: Marcus Aurelio vs. Clay Guida

Looking past the main event, the welterweight bout between Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck is certainly one to watch.  It will be St. Pierre's first fight since losing his belt to heavy underdog Matt Serra at UFC 69.   Koscheck will be no easy opponent however, and the fight may end up as the best of the night.  Personally, I'm glad to see Kendall Grove on the fight card at a big UFC event.  The lanky Hawaiian and former Ultimate Fighter champion has always been a favorite of mine and would love seeing him move up the ranks in the search for an eventual title bout.

Even the undercard is full of recognizable names to MMA fans: Renato Sobral and Travis Lutter being two of the bigger ones.  Of course, the real draw is going to be seeing the veteran Randy Couture attempt to continue to defy Father Time and remain heavyweight champion.  Gabriel Gonzaga is an intimidating figure, though, who will be looking to prove that his victory versus Cro Cop was no fluke.
