Matt Brown is a scary dude. He doesn't speak much, and when he does, the things he says are both bad ass and cryptic. He is a marketable UFC personality in this way. He is unable to train at half speed. He constantly goes all out, throwing full, hard punches at his teammates and coaches. His coach, Forest Griffin even gets perturbed by this, and I don't blame him. Just having Brown on your team leaves the door open for injury. He's had a checkered past, full of street fights, drugs, booze and jail. His opponent tonight was Jeremy May, the kind of guy who tries to make everyone in the house think he's drunk just to mess with them. Who would come out on top, the stoic or the joker? Tonight's
The Ultimate Fighter also featured two fights, thanks to the quickness of each fight.
We got the fight announcement at the end of last episode: Team Griffin's Matt Brown versus Team Rampage's Jeremy May. May injures his knee early on, but seems to be OK. His conditioning might suffer, because he's taking it easy before the fight. Brown learns about May's leg issue and plans on leg kicking the hell out of him. May admits that he's been using his knee his excuse to not spar and train – he's sandbagging. He'll either look like an idiot or a genius after the fight.
Jeremy May vs. Matt Brown
Round 1:
May comes out firing, flailing. He lands a couple of punches, but then Brown counters and gets May to the ground. Once there, he doesn't do much. May gets to his feet easily, then goes down and ground pounds Brown quasi-effectively. May foolishly gets taken to the mat, but Brown does little with position. When both guys get to their feet, May is completely gassed. Brown lands a nice knee to the head of May, and as May stumbles a bit, Brown lands a brutal face-kick, knocking May out. Fight over.
Team Forest picks the next fight: Luke Zachrich will fight Daniel Cramer. Rampage is baffled by this fight choice – Luke was Forest's last pick. Forest tells him the truth – they're flipping coins to pick the fights. Rampage is very confident in Cramer – he's got an iron chin.
Luke Zachrich vs. Daniel Cramer
Round 1:
The two come out firing, and they grapple for awhile, exchanging punches that don't land. A minute or so in, Luke lands a nice punch to the face, but Dan is unfazed. They go to the ground, but are quickly back to feet. They exchange some punches, go back to grappling. Amidst the grappling, Cramer lands some big punches. Zach is dazed, but holds it together. He eats a ton of punches, managing to land some of his own. They go to the ground, Zach getting position, and that's how the round ends.
Round 2:
Cramer almost immediately takes Zach to the ground, and hits him with a bunch of punches and elbows. Zach turns over, and the two stay on the ground for awhile. Cramer just wails on his face until the ref calls it. Cramer wins the fight.
Does Jeremy May have a future in the UFC?
