See Our Rejected Titles for Top Chef: Just Desserts>>But before the pastries start flying,
Top Chef DC has to crown a winner. Will it be the steadfast Ed, the cocky Angelo or the huge underdog, Kevin?
Top Chef does a better job than most reality shows with making sure the right person wins, so let's look at who deserves it the most.
EdSlow and steady may win the race, and Ed has really turned it on at the end, with three elimination challenge wins over the last five weeks and two of the last three quickfire challenge victories. He's been consistently good all season and is really shining at the end, so based on what I've seen this competition is Ed's to lose.
AngeloIn many ways Angelo reminds me of Richard Blais, someone who wins early and often and who clearly could win, but who is also prone to disastrous implosions. In the previews for the finale we've already seen that Angelo appears to be on death's door during the final challenge, which is as inconvenient a time to get sick as ever.
At his best, I believe Angelo could easily beat anyone else to win the title of
Top Chef. But it doesn't look like Angelo will be anywhere near his best for the finale, so it's definitely a longshot for him to win.
KevinIf anyone can honestly explain to me why Kevin is in the finale instead of Kelly or Tiffany, I'd love to hear it. He has been quite unimpressive all season. Much like Mike Isobella, he talks as if he's in the upper tier of chefs, but the stats don't back it up. Kevin has only won a single elimination challenge and one quickfire (and that was the team challenge during the week of Restaurant Wars).
He's also been in the bottom five times, which is more than anyone this season. However, with Angelo being sick and with the possibility that Ed could have an off night, anything is possible. Still, Kevin would certainly become the worst winner in
Top Chef history.
So who are you rooting for and are you excited for the premiere of
Top Chef: Just Desserts?
