Last month, BuddyTV reported that the role of Abby Carlton is being aged and will eventually be recast. This means that fans will soon have to say goodbye to Darcy Rose Byrnes, who has played Abby since the conception of the character on
The Young and the Restless in 2003, and will soon have to welcome a new actress who would fill in the shoes of the daughter of Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Victor Newman (
Eric Braeden).
According to Soaps.com,
The Young and the Restless has cast Hayley Erin to play the aged Abby. Born in Los Angeles, California, Erin is no stranger to show business. The 14-year-old actress has had roles on
Malcolm in the Middle, The District, The King of Queens, Big Love, and
Two and a Half Men. She has also recurrently appeared on
Mad TV as Dakota Fanning, and as Young Emily on
Emily's Reasons Why Not.
CBS hasn't officially set Hayley Erin's first airdate on
The Young and the Restless. However, word on the street is that Abby is expected to come home from boarding school in London in time for the holidays.
As for Byrnes, she wasn't really surprised of her eventual departure.
"I will miss
Young and the Restless so much! I will never forget the fun I had with the cast and crew,” Byrnes said at the time. “I hope that I will work with them all again! Thank-you Y&R, for letting me be......'Blabby' Abby!"
Darcy's spokesperson went on to say that "her experience working with the unspeakably talented cast and crew over the past five years has been foundational in the way she regards the art, craft and business of storytelling. The impression made upon her by the integrity and creativity of the Bell family will continue to influence her for years to come. Darcy also looks forward to working with CBS & Sony in the future."
