The Young and the Restless: January 18 Live Thoughts
The Young and the Restless: January 18 Live Thoughts
Sharon (Sharon Case) is back from Chicago on today's The Young and the Restless.  She is having misgivings about running Jack's (Peter Bergman) new foundation.  She's unsure that she is up for the task, but Jack gives her a pep talk so she suggests that they raise money for awareness against drunk driving.  Jack tells her that he has a surprise for her concerning her publicity tour.

Daniel (Michael Graziadei) shows his portfolio to a professional photographer.  He's trying to get a job as the assistant photographer, but he's too green to be hired.  Amber (Adrienne Frantz) thinks that he can be her professional paparrazzo for when she wins the Fresh Face of Jabot contest.  (The semi-finalists will be announced this afternoon.)  Daniel is skeptical because he thinks she's kidding.  Over on the other side of the coffeehouse, Lily (Christel Khalil) is also nervously awaiting the contest results.  Cane (Daniel Goddard) reassures her that she might get good news.  Amber overhears and has a panic attack.

Neil (Kristoff St. John) informs Victor (Eric Braeden) that he is due in court this afternoon for his divorce hearing.  Nick (Joshua Morrow) interrupts their meeting.

Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is looking forward to her divorce to be finalized, so she's eager for the hearing to get underway.

Nick tells Victor that he blames him for ruining their family and for being so heartless toward Nikki.  He takes a framed quotation by FDR out of his briefcase, a gift from Victor when he first started working at Newman.  He gives it back to him because he thinks his father needs it more than he does.

Amber tries to wheedle out the names of the semi-finalistsfrom Cane.  She tells Lily disingenuously that she'll be rooting for her.  Daniel asks Amber if she can ask Katherine to hire him as a photographer.

Jack's surprise is that he booked a hotel for two nights in the Bahamas before her next publicity appearance in Miami.  He even chartered a private jet for them, and it leaves in an hour.  Jack has arranged for Noah to stay with Nick.  Sharon is shocked.

Cane and Lily make plans to watch a movie together.  He offers to pick up takeout and take her back to his place to watch Casablanca.  During their conversation, Neil scowls at them from across the room.

Nick calls Nikki to ask her to swing by the Newman office.  He wants her to make one last attempt to settle everything outside of court.  She doesn't say right away, but she'll think about it.

Jack continues to do the hard-sell for the Bahamas.  Sharon finally says yes, and actually looks happy about it.

Neil joins Cane and Lily, effectively breaking up their cozy, impromptu date.  Neil finds out that Lily entered the Jabot contest, and Lily tries to play it cool.  He is afraid that she might throw away her education for a career in modeling.

Amber is a nervous mess waiting for the contest results.  She makes a bet with Daniel: if she wins, he has to be her personal assistant for the next week, and if she loses, she has to find him a job.

Nikki shows up at Newman, against her better judgment.   They walk into Victor's office.  Nick tells them to work it out, and then leaves the office.

Neil is concerned about Lily getting into the cut-throat modeling biz.  Lily deduces that being in the contest will put her in constant contact with Cane.  They have a pointless argument about Cane, which ends with Neil leaving, disappointed.  Cane comes back.  Amber sadly watches them leave, as Daniel takes her picture.

Nikki pleads with Victor to end things right now.  She'll drop her lawsuit if he'll drop his, she'll give him NVP if he restores her marital assets intact.  Victor grudgingly admires the guts it took for Nikki to come to his office today, but it's not enough for him.  He still can't look past her affair, so he'll see her in court.

Nikki goes to have lunch at the club with Nick and David (Vincent Irizarry).  David leaves the table to take a call, giving Nick the opportunity to ask whether David should join them in court this afternoon.  He advises her to keep David out of the hearing.  Meanwhile, it's David's loan sharks calling, demanding that he pay up.

Everyone is gathered around the computers as the six finalists of the Jabot contest are announced.  There are two finalists from Genoa City: Lily and Maryna.  Amber shrieks with excitement when Maryna's name is announced, but Cane points out that that's not her.  Amber has to backpedal.

Sharon and Jack arrive in their luxurious hotel room in the Bahamas.  She is ecstatic to be here.

Before the hearing, Nikki and Victor independently decide to visit Reed at the hospital.  Victor overhears her talking to Reed, and the slips away unseen.

Next on The Young and the Restless: Lily wants to do it with Cane, the hearing gets underway, Cane meets Maryna.
