The Young and the Restless: January 3 Live Thoughts

Eileen DavidsonThe Young and the Restless begins anew today.  Victor (Eric Braeden) makes an appearance at the Newman office, after weeks of staying by Victoria's bedside.  Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Neil (Kristoff St. John) are surprised to see him.

Maggie (Tammy Lauren) pays a visit to Heather (Vail Bloom) at her office to discuss details of Victor's involvement in Ji Min's death.  They have evidence of Ji Min's blood in Victor's gym bag and are anxious to move on it as soon as possible.

At the coffeehouse, JT (Thad Luckinbill) arrives to see Paul (Doug Davidson) there.  JT updates Paul that although Victoria's condition has not changed, little Reed's health is improving by leaps and bounds.  He is finally in high spirits and is ready to talk shop.  He wants to discuss David Chow (Vincent Irizarry), and Paul infers that Victor has JT snooping around.  Paul advises JT to steer clear of Victor and not to get in the middle of his divorce.

It's morning at the Abbott mansion.  Ashley (Eileen Davidson) says that she's leaving tonight, right after she visits Victor.  Noah gets ready for school, wearing a ridiculously puffy parka--the kid is as wide as he is tall!  Sharon confirms that she and Noah are going to stay with Jack and not move out.  After Noah is sent off to school, Ashley approaches Sharon because she wants to talk about Jack.

At Newman, Neil advises Victor not to attack Nikk with a counter-lawsuit.  Nick offers his opinion to back off as well, but Victor refuses.

Heather gives Maggie all the evidence she's gathered against Victor, but it's all circumstantial and there's not enough to get a warrant.  Heather seems distracted, though, because of her personal stress with Paul.  Maggie assures her that she's her friend and she's here for her.

In the break room, Neil fills Karen (Nia Peeples) in on Victor's terrible mood.  The subject quickly turns to Karen's amazing voice.  Cane (Daniel Goddard) shows up, and Neil whisks him away to talk about Clear Springs.  Neil warns Cane that Victor is considering a counter-suit against Chancellor in order to blame them for sub-par work on the construction.  Cane is not pleased.

Heather tells Maggie that she's having trouble sleeping.  Maggie tries to be sympathetic, but Heather feels too much pain from her childhood to cope with this.  Heather says that all of her insecurities and fears are all rushing back to her.  Maggie asks her to give Paul a chance, but Heather refuses.  As a last resort, Maggie offers to take her to get coffee.  Uh oh!  But Paul's at the coffeehouse!

Nick storms into Victor's office angrily to give him a piece of his mind.  But naturally, Victor refuses to listen to reason.  Instead, he calls JT and asks him to come over.  At the coffeehouse, JT thanks Paul for his advice about staying away from Victor but chooses not to take it.  He leaves Paul all by himself, and Maggie and Heather come in.  Things are a bit awkward, but Paul decides he better leave Heather and Maggie by themselves.

Sharon calls Brad (Don Diamont) to ask him to meet her for lunch at the club.  Ashley comes downstairs, and Sharon acts all dodgy and twitchy.  Ashley tells her that she thinks she's really good for Jack.

JT goes over to Victor's office.  He reports that he hasn't found much on David yet.  Then, they talk quietly about their hopes and dreams for Reed.

Jack goes to the coffeehouse and smirks to Heather and Maggie that they better get cracking if they want to get Victor.  Jack gets a call from someone to meet for lunch soon.

Lily (Christel Khalil) goes over to Newman to get Devon (Bryton McClure) for lunch.  Cane shows up, and generally makes an ass of himself.  He's trying too hard to flirt with Lily and it's kind of embarrassing.

Ashley goes over to Victor's office.  Victor finally manages to crack a smile.  Ashley scolds him for continuing his feud with Jack.

Heather gets a call at her office from the lab.  It's official: the surveillance tapes at the GCAC near Ji Min's room have been tampered with.  All the footage around the time of his death have been erased.  Heather has her computer guys working on the tapes to see what was erased.  She's hopeful of what they will find.

JT admits to Nick that he doesn't want to get caught in the middle of Victor's problems.  Nick says that when Victor gets this deep, there's really no saving him now.

At the GCAC, Sharon tells Brad that she's decided to stay with Jack.  Not what you were expecting to hear, were you, eh Brad?

Lily is studying at the coffeehouse when Cane shows up there too.  He clearly knows that she saw him, but she's purposely hiding her face in her book, so he just leaves.  I really hope this goes somewhere.  The storylines on The Young and the Restless tend to drag on and on and on.

Brad doesn't hesitate in telling Sharon that he thinks she's making a colossal mistake by staying with the lying bastard.  He is not being a supportive friend at all, especially since he clearly has an ulterior motive.  Why does Sharon keep turning to him as a friend?

Maggie gets a call from the computer guys who have rebuilt the hard drive.  They now have proof that Victor Newman was the last person to see Ji Min alive.  They now have enough hard evidence to get a warrant.

At Newman, Devon tells Neil that he can tell that Lily is still hung up on Cane, so he wants to set her up with some other guys.  Neil thinks it's a great idea.

Jack goes to the GCAC and sees Sharon having lunch with Brad.  He sees Brad put his hand on top of Sharon's, but decides not to do anything about it.  Jack just walks out the door.

Ashley comes back to Newman with some takeout food for Victor.  Just as she leaves, Maggie steps off the elevator to arrest Victor.

Next on The Young and the Restless: Lily asks Cane to a movie, Jeffrey extorts Gloria for $50,000, Victor doesn't want to spend a single night in the slammer
