The Young and the Restless never ends! On today's post-Christmas episode, Sharon (
Sharon Case) comes home to the Abbott mansion to find that Jack (
Peter Bergman) has prepared a big meal for her, including a serving of humble pie for himself. He wants her to give him another chance, but she's beyond disillusioned.
At the coffeehouse, Amber (
Adrienne Frantz) wearing a black-striped hat and black-striped shirt (is this foreshadowing for a future incarceration, perhaps?) is hanging out with Daniel (
Michael Graziadei) who is playing with his new camera he got for Christmas. He makes her pose like a rockstar, and she takes a spill onto the floor, just as Cane (
Daniel Goddard) comes in. Oof.
Nick (
Joshua Morrow) is at home at the tack house, looking all mopey. Phyllis (
Michelle Stafford) tries to cheer him up.
Cane awkwardly thanks Amber for the gift she got him, and they make awkward small talk about New Year's. After Cane leaves, Daniel shows her a picture he just took of Cane's face during their conversation. It is the face of a guy who is just not that into Amber.
Jack tells Sharon that among his resolutions this year, he is going to go green and buy a hybrid car, and that he'll be the man that she wants him to be.
Victor (
Eric Braeden) asks Paul (
Doug Davidson) over to the ranch. He wants to hire Paul to prove that Jack Abbott is setting him up for the murder of Ji Min Kim. Uh oh, does that mean Paul and Maggie (Tammy Lauren) will be working against each other? After the commercial break, Paul says that it would be unethical for him to get involved in an on-going police investigation, and refuses to work behind Maggie's back.
Phyllis goes over to pick up takeout from the club and runs into Sharon there. Just as Phyllis is asking how her Christmas went, Brad (
Don Diamont) comes over. Sharon frets that they shouldn't have come over there, especially now that they have run into Phyllis. Does this woman know nothing? The entire town of Genoa City and the entire cast of
The Young and the Restless, young or old, hangs out at the GCAC.
Jack goes over to the tack house, looking for Phyllis but finding only Nick. Jack confides in Nick about Sharon.
Amber never gives up. She pours Cane some more coffee and perkily tells him about her new website and asks about the Faces of Jabot contest. He makes a hasty retreat. Daniel repeats to Amber that she needs to back off. But she says that she can't help herself because she loves him. Daniel corrects her that it's not love, it's fear of being alone.
Paul goes over to the coffeehouse and sits down with Maggie. He tells her about his meeting with Victor. Paul says that he's not sure Victor is capable of murder.
Jack tells Nick that he doesn't know how to make it up to Sharon and Noah. Nick suggests giving her some space. Meanwhile, Sharon confides in Brad about what she should do. She doesn't know what to do. After talking to him for a while, she concludes that she has to end her marriage right now.
Victor receives a package at his door. Let's see, it's too small to be a letter bomb. So...it must be lawsuit papers! He's been served! He quickly grabs his coat and leaves the house.
Sharon comes home to find Jack waxing tedious to Noah about building a model airplane. Noah catches sight of his mother and realizes something is wrong.
Phyllis is back at home with Nick. They finally have the house all to themselves. She's got nooky on her mind, and kisses Nick.
David (
Vincent Irizarry) and Nikki (
Melody Thomas Scott) check on Victoria. Nikki sobs and sobs, and then Victor comes in to give her a piece of his mind about the lawsuit. He actually says, "Are you out of your cotton picking mind?" Way to be culturally sensitive there,
Y&R writers. The three of them start yelling at each other and Victor even throws furniture around. He lowers his voice and tells her threateningly that if she wants to play him at his own game, she had better fasten her seatbelt because she's in for the ride of her life. He leaves, slamming the door.
Heather (Vail Bloom) comes to the coffeehouse, and Paul takes this opportunity to talk to her. He apologizes for their awkward Christmas Eve dinner, and wants to make up for it. He says he's sorry for everything, but she can't get over the painful memories. She leaves. On the other side of the coffee shop, Amber cries to Daniel that she doesn't see what the big deal is for wanting someone in her life. Daniel just wants to make sure that the guy she wants to be with also wants to be with her. She closes up the shop (when did everyone leave so quickly?).
Jack carries Noah upstairs, and tells Sharon that he's going to give her space so that she can decide what to do.
Amber has changed into her Maryna the prostitute-garb, sets up her video camera to film her Faces of Jabot entry. Daniel watches with a puzzled look on his face through the window.
Victor goes back home and sadly looks at all the pictures of him and Nikki together, from the '80s judging from Nikki's enormous hairdo. He's really broken up. Simultaneously, Jack watches Sharon mope, and Heather watches Paul mope at the GCAC bar. At least two people are having a good time, though: Nick and Phyllis are both buck-nekkid on the sofa, engaging in passionate, candlelit lovemaking.
At Sharon's old house, David gives Nikki a pep talk about the lawsuit. He also has a plan that will help her take care of her financial woes and give her the future she deserves. He kisses her and then asks her to marry him. Her face registers shock.
