What is the new threat? Robert Kirkman revealed its origin to Vulture
, "It's important to know that this is really just some form of the Spanish Flu. It's something that exists in our everyday world now; it's a time where there is no modern medicine."
Showrunner Scott Gimple said that no one is safe. Could Daryl be in danger of getting sick? Yes, he could. Gimple recounted a scene from the premiere in the same interview, "[Daryl] licks his fingers then shakes Patrick's hand. You look at it and go, 'Wait a minute, Daryl licked his fingers and shook Patrick's hand and now Patrick is [dead].'"
After 30 days of calm, the prison is going to shift from a safe haven to a harbor of death around every corner. Check out two sneak peeks from "Infection."
"Infection" - Walker and the Mouse
Why would someone taunt a walker with a mouse? Could it go back to the scene in the premiere where the kids were naming the walkers? If someone sees that walker as their pet, they could want to take care of it and make sure it's fed.
Why else would someone do that? Any guesses?
"Infected" - Peace Interrupted
Rick really enjoys his time taking care of the animals. It's refreshing to see Rick and Carl have a healthy father-son relationship. Carl asks his father for his gun back. Will Rick give it back?
Since their conversation is interrupted when a walker is attacking in Cell Block D, it won't be long before Carl gets his gun back to protect himself.
