Last night's episode of The Ultimate Fighter season 8 saw the victory of Team Mir over Team Nogueira as Vinny Magalhaes defeated Jules Bruchez by armbar submission.  While the bout still offered some action, it was deemed quite boring by most UFC fans.

Vinny Magalhaes, for those who are not familiar, is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil who currently trains with Team Quest and UFC star Dan Henderson in Temecula, California.  He has spent the last 10 years perfecting his martial arts skills while also studying English, Spanish and Portuguese languages.

On last night's fight, Vinny, a three-time World Jiu-Jitsu participant, started out as the more aggressive striker as he combined several high and low kicks.  Jules, on the other hand, was trying to keep his distance though he was focused on his defense strategy.

Three minutes into the round, and little has happened.  UFC president Dana White even joked that he almost fell asleep during the bout.

"Vinny's jiu-jitsu is amazing," White said.  "His stand-up is amazingly boring.  Thank God that fight went to the ground."

The fight finally came to a close when Vinny pulled a Thai clinch and Jules shoved him to the cage. Subsequently, Vinny jumped to guard and quickly transitioned to an armbar, leaving Jules exactly 20 seconds on the ground.

Jules admitted he's quite disappointed with the loss since he had a game plan before hitting the Octagon, which he apparently abandoned.  Nevertheless, he remains optimistic that he can still fight for the UFC someday.

Meanwhile, fans can catch Vinny Magalhaes next week on The Ultimate Fighter 8.  In the eighth episode of the season, fans can look forward to a series of food-based pranks and a "betrayal from one fighter [that] could change the outcome in the octagon” as Junie Browning is shown talking with the enemy.
