It was reported earlier this year that ABC has ordered a celebrity-themed revival of The Superstar, an all-around competition that featured athletes competing in different sporting events to determine the best athletes in the world.  ABC has recently released the cast in the new reality show that will pair up one star and one athlete and as a team they'll compete in various events, such as swimming, biking, running, and kayaking, in addition to other head-to-head athletic challenges everyone must try to conquer.  Like most reality shows, one team will be eliminated each week until the winner is determined.

The Superstar will see the following team-ups competing for the title of The Superstars Champion: Football star Terrell Owens with model Joanna Krupa, baseball's Jeff Kent with actress and model Ali Landry, basketballer Robert Horry with actress/model and former synchronized swimmer, Estella Warren, Alpine ski racer Bode Miller with Extreme Home Makeover's Paige Hemmis, freestyle skier Kristi Leskinen with Dancing With the Stars pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, WNBA star Lisa Leslie with actor Dan Cortese, and tennis star Jennifer Capriati with former Baywatch star David Charvet, and soccer star Brandi Chastain with singer Julio Iglesias, Jr.

Superstars aired on ABC throughout the 1970s and into the early 1980s, with the last ABC edition airing 1984, having subsequently broadcasted by NBC from 1985 to 1990.  ABC reacquired Superstars, with new editions from 1991 through 1994 before it went on a three-year hiatus 1998, and then aired additional editions through 2002.

The Superstar past winners include football stars Herschel Walker in 1987, Jason Sehorn in 1998, decathlete Dave Johnson in 1993 and Olympic skier Bode Miller in 2002.

The six-episode series, shot on location at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, will premiere on June 23  9pm on ABC.
