No one can blame Ashley Tisdale if she wants to spread her wings and take on more challenging roles now, right?  With the success of both The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and High School Musical, the 23-year-old actress feels that it is time to move on with her life.  She hasn’t told us what she is planning at the moment, but we already reported that she is ready to leave The Suite Life behind.  Moreover, she is currently busy promoting the third of the High School Musical flicks.

In fact, Ashley Tisdale and HSM co-star Zac Efron recently headed out to the El Capitan cinema on Saturday to surprise some 1000 fans who were there to view the new sing-a-long version of High School Musical and High School Musical 2 and catch a sneak peek of the third installment, which is set to be released in October.

The fans were happy to see the two stars, who took the stage following the movie features to thank the fans for their support through the last couple of years.

Zac Efron explained, “You know it's always great to get out and meet your fans and we just wanted to give them a little something extra.”

Director Kenny Ortega was also on hand to comment, saying, “I left the editing room to come down here.  I'm finishing High School Musical 3 but I couldn't miss an opportunity to say thank you.”

Cast and crew alike have been overwhelmed by the response that the first movie got after airing a couple of years ago.  The film soon became a huge franchise that pulled in the dollars, with stage and on-ice remakes of the films being shown all over the world.

"Our movie was really for the Disney Channel.  We never expected it to be so huge," Ashley Tisdale, who plays antagonist Sharpay Evans in the films, said.  "It's because of the fans that it is such a phenomenon, so it's always great to see them face to face."
