It has only been some months since Oak Films wrapped up production on the film
A Modern Twain Story: The Prince and the Pauper, but the film's stars,
Dylan and
Cole Sprouse, are already working on another big screen project.
The Sprouse brothers, best known as the stars of Disney's tween series
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, are now working on The Kings of Appletown, a modern adaptation of another Mark Twain classic, Tom Sawyer. Direction is being led by Academy Award-winning writer, producer and director, Bobby Moresco. Daniel Pearl is director of photography, while Amanda Moresco is credited as the scriptwriter.

I am looking forward to the two movies that are coming out soon. The story in the first movie to be release...
Of the film, producer John Reilly said, “It's about two boys on the precipice of adulthood. If they go forward they can never go back; if they stay they can never go forward.”
Presently, Dylan and Cole Sprouse, along with costar
Victoria Justice (
Zoey 101), are filming on location in New Braunfels, Texas. Both Reilly and Moresco said they chose the area because of its distinct look and natural appeal.
“It's an amazingly beautiful town,” Moresco told
The Herald-Zeitung. “This movie is about timeless Americana. You can't find it anywhere like you do in New Braunfels. I feel like I'm walking into America in 1760, in 1860, America in 1960. This has the timeless feel of America forever and that's what we we're hoping to get. It's magnificent.”
Reilly added that the city's two rivers, Comal and Guadalupe, will be a central figure in
The Kings of Appletown.
“The river plays a character in the film almost,” he said. “So we were very pleased to find the rivers as they are.”
The Kings of Appletown is scheduled for release next year.
As for the
Suite Life stars other Twain movie,
The Prince and the Pauper, the modern-day adaptation is slated to premiere in Los Angeles this weekend, November 10 and 11, at 11am in Sunset Laemmle 5. The movie revolves around Eddie Tudor (Cole Sprouse), a very successful but unhappy teen actor, and Tom Canty (Dylan Sprouse), a poor teen who hopes to live a life like Eddie's. When they meet, they decide to swap places, but things go awry quickly.
The Prince and the Pauper will be released early next year under the distribution of Sony Pictures. Meanwhile, fans of the Sprouse twins can catch them on
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, airing daily on the Disney Channel.
