Edie, who was raised in Northport, Long Island, studied at the State University of New York in Purchase, along her fellow actors and close friends Ving Rhames and Stanley Tucci. Her first big movie break was the Woody Allen film, Bullets Over Broadway. Edie gained the distinction of being the only actress who won an Emmy award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild trophy in the same year.
