The Return of Jezebel James on FOX: Meet the Cast

Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose star in the Return of Jezebel James Fox’s upcoming sitcom The Return of Jezebel James follows the tale of two estranged sisters who decide to live together when one says yes to carrying the other’s baby.

Sarah Thomkins is a successful children’s book editor who finds out that she is incapable of getting pregnant.  She turns to her younger sister, Coco, for help and asks her to be surrogate mother. At first, Coco is unwilling to take on such a responsibility, but when Sarah says she has turned Coco’s imaginary childhood friend, Jezebel James, into a book, Coco changes her mind.

Produced by Daniel and Amy Palladino, The Return of Jezebel James is scheduled to air next year as a midseason replacement for Back to You.

“Queen of the Indies” Parker Posey is poised to play Sarah Thomkins.  Posey is known for her work in numerous independent films, hence the title that Time magazine bestowed upon her.  Among her most memorable projects are The House of Yes, Personal Velocity, Clockwatchers, Party Girl and For Your Consideration. Her mainstream film credits include Superman Returns, Josie and the Pussycats, Scream 3 and You’ve Got Mail.

Posey’s on-screen sister, Coco Thomkins will be played by Lauren Ambrose.  In television, Ambrose is most remembered as Claire Fisher on HBO’s Six Feet Under.  She has also appeared in the films In & Out, Can’t Hardly Wait, Pyscho Beach Party and Swimming.  She will also be featured in two upcoming films, A Dog Year and Tonight at Noon.

Scott Cohen will play businessman Marcus Sonti, Sarah’s no-strings-attached boyfriend.  Cohen’s big break came when he landed a role in the 1990 psychological horror, Jacob’s Ladder.  His subsequent acting projects include The 10th Kingdom, Gilmore Girls, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Gia and Kissing Jessica Stein.

Sarah’s helpful and eager-to-please assistant, Buddy, will be portrayed by Michael Arden.  Arden began his acting career on stage, having performed in such productions as Big River, Bare, A Pop Opera, Swimming in the Shallows and The Times They Are A-Changing.  He has also taken on guest roles in television shows like NUMB3RS and Grey’s Anatomy.

Ron McLarty will appear on the show as Sarah’s father, Ronald Thomkins.  McLarty has done extensive work in television, appearing in such productions as Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Ed, Sex and the City, The Practice, Judging Amy and Third Watch.
