Shauvon Torres, one of the seven cast members of
The Real World: Sydney, is competing to be on the cover of nightlife magazine
944. The winner of the contest will receive a one-year contract with the magazine for promotions, tours and events, as well as earn more modeling opportunities, go on photo shoots and television hosting gigs.
Fans of Shauvon Torres who wish to cast their vote for the journalism major from Sacramento, California can go to the magazine's official website. Before a vote can be cast, however, visitors must be willing to register. Votes from both fans and staffers of the magazine will be tallied, with the model with the most votes being proclaimed “People's Choice” and “Editor's Choice” each month. The monthly winners will be moved to the Winners Circle and entered into the Cover Model Search Contest. The final winner will be announced at 944's 2009 New Year's Eve Party.
Shauvon Torres is more than just a blonde beauty. On the premiere episode of
The Real World: Sydney, Torres, a dating and sex columnist for Sacramento State University's paper, revealed that she hopes to become a news reporter someday. Before she entered
The Real World house, she broke off an engagement to a man who forced her to choose between a career and him.
Once in the house, Torres often acted as a peacemaker, doing her best to mediate between feuding housemates. She didn't stay on the show for too long, however, as she decided to return to California with the hopes of reuniting with her ex-fiance midway through the season.
In an interview with the
State Hornet last year, Torres said that she is grateful for the experience, as it immersed her in a different culture and gave way to many career opportunities.
"It was such an amazing experience going to a new country and leaving Sacramento,” she said. “It was amazing to be part of this gorgeous house and sharing it with six people who were going through the same culture shock as you.”
