Lawyers representing The Real Housewives of New Jersey
star Danielle Staub and her former boyfriend, Steve Zalewski, have until today to reach a settlement in a dispute over a sex tape allegedly made without her knowledge or they will have to go to trial.
Zalewski previously revealed to the public that Staub has a sex video and that he's consider releasing it to make a profit. Staub, however, claims that she didn't know that he taped their sexcapades until she read it in a magazine. Thus, a judge in Passaic County Superior Court temporarily halted the release of the sex tape

Earlier this week, Staub and Zalewski's lawyers met behind closed doors at the Passaic County Courthouse in Paterson in an apparent attempt to reach a settlement. According to NorthJersey.com, Superior Court Civil Assignment Judge Thomas Brogan told both sides that unless they come to an agreement by the end of the week, they must submit additional legal briefs in support of oral arguments before him on July 30.
Staub, the most controversial cast member on The Real Housewives of New Jersey
, is suing for invasion of privacy and defamation.
"There are serious allegations being asserted back and forth, if those assertions can be resolved, the case can be dismissed and the parties can go on with their lives," Hackensack attorney Randy Pearce, who represents Zalewski, said Tuesday.
"Ms. Staub will continue to pursue her right to privacy until conclusion of this matter," Darren J. Del Sardo of Woodland Park, who represent's Staub, said in a brief written statement after Tuesday's conference.
Coincidentally, today is also the day tickets go on sale for The Real Housewives of New Jersey
show at Montclair's Wellmont Theatre where Caroline Manzo, Dina Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita and Teresa Giudice will appear live on November 7
