Cassia seems to be a perfect high school student.  She is pretty and popular and people look up to her for mature advice amidst the usual conflict and drama of teenagers.  Instead of partying, she focuses her skills on worthwhile causes, such as freedom of speech and the war in Iraq.  She was a winner of the All Florida Award for review writing.

Cassia is one of the student journalists in the MTV reality show The Paper.  It features the daily grind involved in producing The Circuit, the multi-awarded newspaper of Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida.  She is the best friend and confidante of the embattled editor-in-chief Amanda, who is seen by the other staff members as overbearing and bossy.  She is quick to defend her and says that people lash out against her because they have preconceived notions that are incorrect.  Cassia is in the minority, as the other staff members are hell-bent on giving Amanda a hard time as editor-in-chief.  Cassia prefers to dwell on the positive possibilities and hopes that Amanda proves everyone wrong.
