FOX has four new hour-long shows coming in the 2017-2018 TV season, two debuting in the Fall and two waiting until mid-season. In the Fall the network has the X-Men series The Gifted and Seth MacFarlane's space dramedy The Orville.

The Orville, created by and starring Seth MacFarlane, is a Star Trek-style series about the human and alien crew of an exploratory spaceship 400 years in the future. MacFarlane plays the titular ship's captain and his first officer happens to be his ex-wife, played by Friday Night Lights' Adrianne Palicki. The show will air Thursdays at 9/8c this Fall. If you liked Galaxy Quest, this will be right up your alley.

The Resident is a new medical drama, where the hospital staff includes The Good Wife's Matt Czuchry and Revenge's Emily VanCamp. The trailer looks like a much darker, unpleasant medical drama about doctors making mistakes.
