When news broke that The Wire star Idris Elba will be dropping by Scranton for a six-episode arc and that his character will supposedly cause Michael Scott quite a lot of trouble, there have been rumors that Steve Carell might be reduced to making cameos on The Office, as the latter chose to prioritize his movie career.  It was further reported that one loyal minion will allegedly follow him a la Jerry McGuire, and the normal conjecture, of course, would point to Dwight (Rainn Wilson).

Zap2it reports that Carell will not be leaving Dunder Mifflin Scranton to go do movies.  It's true, however, that a corporate shakeup will definitely happen on The Office, as Elba assumes the position of Jan over at corporate in New York.  Rumor has it that the shakeup will reach Pennsylvania and have some professional repercussions in Michael's life.  No further clues were given though on which “major” character will follow Michael as he take on this path.
