next food network starThe Next Food Network Star champ, Aaron McCargo Jr., isn't the only one getting his own reality series on the Food Network.  Despite not being named the  winner, finalist Adam Gertler has also been awarded his own program.

Gertler, a 30-year-old former restaurateur, server and actor from Philadelphia, was one of the three finalists on the recently concluded fourth season of The Next Food Network Star.  He and 32-year-old restaurant owner Lisa Garza lost to Aaron McCargo Jr. on Sunday's finale.

"On The Next Food Network Star Adam exhibited a unique combination of quick wit, passion for food and an engaging personality," The Next Food Network Star judge and programming executive Bob Tuschman said in a statement.

"He earned millions of fans across the country who have let us know that we have a second star in our midst. We feel this series is a perfect fit for his talents, letting him showcase his brand of humor while he works for food," he added.

Adam Gertler's new series is called Will Work for Food, which is expected to premiere on Tuesday, September 30 at 9:30pm ET/PT.  Will Work for Food, however, is not a cooking show per se.  The series attempts to combine his comedy with a sense of adventure as he explores a variety of little-known jobs in the culinary world and introduces viewers to the people who work at the different professions on a daily basis.  These include a potato chip inspector, a shark feeder and a dog-food taste-tester.

Meanwhile, The Next Food Network Star winner has already launched his own show called Big Daddy's House.  The new daytime series runs for six episodes and follows Aaron McCargo Jr. as he shares his zeal for bold flavors and fun family cooking.  Throughout the series, Aaron will attempt to bring a sensible and practical vibe to the kitchen while whipping up mouth-watering recipes inspired by many years of culinary experience and his loving family.
