On The Following, the situation at the farmhouse has reached dire levels. Emma is controlling both Jacob and Paul now, while Joey is getting reckless for home. When Claire (Natalie Zea) receives a phone call that may lead her to find her son, Joey (Kyle Catlett), Hardy (Kevin Bacon) and the FBI set their next move into motion, causing panic at the followers' hideout. Meanwhile, Carroll (James Purefoy) seeks a lawyer from his past (guest star Renee Elise Goldsberry) to send a message that has deadly results.

Joey gets the phone from the hiding place. He calls his mom and asks to come home. "They'd kill me if they knew I was on the phone." And, then he gets caught by Paul...
Joe's lawyer comes in to see him and is manipulated into making a statement to Joe's followers. It was a coded message for a follower to start his portion of the plan. According to Executive Producer, Kevin Williamson, this new plan will play out over the next few episodes.
Mike is still on the case after running off with Ryan and not informing Parker, but she makes him promise to keep her informed as she sends them out on a mission. Parker deputizes Ryan and gives him a gun.
The Following promo is full of spoilers. Joe moves up his plan timetable and activates a new follower, Charlie's plan. The FBI finds the farmhouse and Ryan goes after Joey.
