Jon Stewart is a well-known satirist, stand-up comedian, and producer who was born on November 28, 1962 in New York City. The son of a physicist and an educational consultant, he was raised in Lawrence, New Jersey where he attended Lawrence High School. Stewart's parents divorced when he was nine years old, and thus he and his older brother Larry went to live with their mother. During his high school days, he was a member of the school band who played the French horn. He also endured harassment from his peers for being the only Jewish student, and he had leftist views.
Stewart would later go on to study at the College of William and Mary located in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he majored in psychology. While in college, he also played on the men's soccer team and was briefly a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a heavy smoker of marijuana, and claims to have been miserable in college. Stewart would eventually become hugely popular for hosting The Daily Show on Comedy Central, receiving multiple awards and accolades for his comedic work. Aside from working on television, he has also made appearances in feature films such as Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, and Death to Smoochy.
