Michael Paul Chan Biography:
Michael Paul Chan was born on June 26, 1950 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Although he grew up in California, he has had the opportunity to travel around extensively, mostly because of his work in the theater. He received his training from the American Conservatory Theater and co-founded the Asian-American Theater Company. Chan’s projects have gone well beyond the stage. He has starred in many successful feature films, such as Mrs. Harris, Game, and the critically acclaimed The Joy Luck Club. On the small screen, he has appeared in two Michael Mann television series, Robbery Homicide Division and The Insider. Chan is now busy with his current role on the TNT crime drama, The Closer.
Lieutenant Mike Tao is played by Michael Paul Chan in the new drama, The Closer. Tao is very intelligent and is a genius when it comes to technology, computer and electronics. Because of his immense technological know-how, he feels that he is better than everybody else, and often looks down on other detectives of the squad when they start discussing technology.
