Kyra Sedgwick Biography:
Kyra Sedgwick comes from a family of great artists, which is why it is no surprise why she has made quite a name for herself in Hollywood. Her first acting job came when she was only 16 years old, and it was for the popular soap Another World. After graduating from the University of Southern California, she began taking on roles for different movies, several of which she co-starred with Kevin Bacon, whom she later married. She also starred in memorable and heartwarming films like Heart and Souls with Robert Downey, Jr. and Phenomenon with John Travolta. Her current role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson for the TNT series The Closer has earned her her first Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Series- Drama. This was her second nomination; the first one came for her work in the movie Something to Talk About.
Brenda Leigh Johnson is played by Kyra Sedgwick on the show The Closer. As the Deputy Chief of the LAPD’s Priority Homicide Squad, Brenda Johnson is tough and unmerciful when it comes to breaking down suspects. She is the squad’s best “closer” as she interrogates with much force and intimidation. With her no-nonsense attitude, she can get anyone to confess to what they have done. She takes the job seriously and always wants to be informed about every detail of the case, leaving the detectives feeling resentful and unappreciated. In the past, she had an affair with Assistant Chief Will Pope but is now involved with FBI Agent Howard, whom she hardly has any time for given the demands of her job.
