Well, it was somehow meant to happen, right?
NBC has announced that
they're giving The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels her very own show, which will launch next year.
Losing It with Jillian Michaels sees her going across the country providing her own brand of life coaching. She's going beyond weight loss and fitness, tackling other issues such as finances, career goals, and relationships, of the usual or the more intimate kind.
"We're essentially rebooting them," Michaels said. "It's not about fat to thin. It's about being stuck and getting unstuck."
Jillian clarified, however, that she isn't leaving
The Biggest Loser: in fact, she sees the new show as an enhanced version of her current show. "[
Loser] focuses on weight loss, challenges and temptations, not always the how and why of change," she said. "This is showing more of what we do what we do, bringing it to people's homes."
And bring it to people's homes, she literally does. She says she will be living with the families she visits for a week, observing so she can fully understand their lives, before she can take action and fix stuff up. Before she leaves, she'll give the family guidelines to follow--smaller, more doable deeds, in her words--and then she'll return and catch up with them. "We are taking all the excuses and turning them into solutions," she said.
At the same time, she'll also recruit a pool of experts to help her as needed. So far, the only person announced is chef Curtis Stone, who has also appeared in
The Biggest Loser.
Viewers can also expect seeing a softer side to Jillian, known for her tough-love approach on
Loser. "I won't be yelling at children," she promised, but maintains that she'll be her usual self to their parents, in private.
