The Biggest Loser

Exclusive Interview: Bryan Washington of 'The Biggest Loser'
On last night's episode of The Biggest Loser, Bryan Washington ended up going down in the show's history, although it wasn't the way he had hoped.  When his weight loss wasn't enough to keep him above the yellow line, the black team saw an opportunity to eliminate a threat and unanimously voted him out, marking the first time an entire team has been sent home before the finale.  That leaves blue team members Neil and Nicole to fight to keep themselves in the game.  Bryan never dreamed that he would change his life as much as did while on The Biggest Loser and is now 118 pounds lighter than when he started.  Today, Bryan talked to BuddyTV about his time on the show, his opinions on his elimination, and his preparations for the upcoming live finale!

Below, you will find the complete transcript and mp3 of the interview.

Hey everybody. This is Gina from BuddyTV and today I'm talking to Brian, better known as B, from NBC's The Biggest Loser.

Hi Gina, how are you doing?

I'm good. Thanks so much for doing the interview today, I really appreciate it.

Oh, no problem, it's cool. I'm enjoying it.

What's life been like since you've been home? You must be very popular.

It's definitely different from before. It's definitely different. The first thing is the difference in the exercising and the eating habits, but other than that there's definitely a lot of people asking questions about everything that's going on with the show.

Now when you were filming the show and you were on the campus, did you feel like you were sort of in a bubble and removed from everything else in the world?

Definitely. We were definitely secluded from everything. That was the first time, but I actually enjoyed that bubble. I enjoyed that time to work on me. We had no telephone, no internet, no TV, and that's something that's kind of stuck with me. Sometimes the phone is a nuisance now because I got used to not having it for awhile.

I would think that being removed would drive some people crazy. You were okay with it?

Yeah, I was definitely okay with it. I definitely missed my family. That was about the only thing that drove me crazy, but the rest of the seclusion was great for me. It gave me a lot of time to think. I knew that I was there to work on one specific thing, and only having that to focus on made it a lot easier. It was kind of like tunnel vision.

Now when your wife got to surprise you at the makeover, what did that mean to you for her to be able to see you?

I don't even have words to describe it. It was fantastic for her to bring her out into somewhat of our element, and let her get a taste of what we had been going through for awhile. Just for her to see me, since she hadn't seen me in over three months, just for her to see my progress that I made. I was hoping that she was pleasantly surprised with what I had done and I was definitely surprised to see her pop from behind the mirror.

Could you have ever imagined that you would be doing a photo shoot for Prevention magazine?

No, I would have never imagined. I never thought I'd be doing photo shoots with Prevention magazine, ever. It was a great experience though. Everyone was nice, and they actually were coaching us and trying to teach us on how to get the best shots and all that kind of stuff. But it never ran across my mind before going to The Biggest Loser that I would be doing a photo shoot for Prevention.

Was it frustrating to the red team and the blue team that there was a third black team this season?

Not necessarily frustrating. It was frustrating that we didn't know about them at the beginning of the show, but that was the only thing that was frustrating. We didn't know that the black team existed for two weeks basically. For them to all of a sudden pop up and say “hey, here we are,” that was the only frustrating thing. If we would have known about it from the beginning it would have been thoroughly different, but we were lead to believe that they were gone. They found out that they weren't leaving immediately and we had to kind of wait for two weeks to find out.

Would it surprise you to see all black team members at the finale or do you think Neil and Nicole can hang in there?

I think that they can hang in. I really hope that they can. I'd hate to see two teams eliminated. I hope that Neil and Nicole can hang in and at least secure one of those spots in the top four since I won't be there.

Have you been going on overtime with your workouts and everything in preparation for that live finale?

Oh yeah, I'm putting in at least three hours a day every day. I kind of take Sundays as a light day and I don't do as much on Sundays, but other than that I'm trying to keep up as much intensity as I can to compete with these guys. I know that everyone wants to look good at the finale, and not necessarily for the money, but you have to show that The Biggest Loser experience is part of our life now. Everyone wants to do our best and I don't want to be left behind on the train.

Well Brian, thanks so much for your time. I wish you good luck, and we can't wait to see you at the live finale.

Thank you.
