So can we please talk about Cara's little hissy fit from last night? I was kind of amazed watching it. Let's review, shall we? Ken approaches Cara in a reasonable way, communicating his needs in a calm and clear manner. Cara then proceeds to take it personally and completely flip out, yelling and cursing in an alarming way. We've seen trainers yell before, but never quite like this. What the heck was going on?

The difference between Cara freaking out at Ken and Jillian freaking at out, oh, say, RulonOliviaJayJenJustinHannahMosesKaylee, is that Jillian yells in a motivating way, if that's possible. She always appears to be in control. She doesn't insult the character of the trainees. When Jillian yells, it's not always pretty but at least it is always objectively in the interest of the workout.

Cara's yelling last night was way different. In the first place, when I saw Ken vocalizing his needs to Cara, I was proud of Ken. With a lot of the contestants this season, vocalizing their needs is difficult, so I was excited to see Ken asking Cara for help working around his injuries. What shocked me was when Cara reacted to Ken's reasonable request by completely freaking out and screaming at Ken. Cara appeared to be on the verge of tears, which is weird because A) What Ken asked of her was not unusual or insulting in any way, and B) Cara usually has a weird emotionless face. She screamed at Ken, using multiple swear words and telling him that he should be glad to have lost even four pounds last week, due to his injuries. Instead of working with him to find exercises he could do to work around his injuries, as he asked, she instead basically told him he was lucky to have lost any weight at all. "You've had great weight loss, Ken," she screamed. Right, did. Isn't the whole point of the show to continue to have great weight loss?

I understand that Cara must have been on edge and worried about her job security because Brett left last week, but that's no excuse. Cara's behavior was completely out of hand. Ken certainly did not deserve to be screamed at the way he was, and then after they had their nice little "chat," Cara compensated by working Ken out ruthlessly. "I'm gonna torture him," she cackled. Which is great, except that she had Ken doing sprints. Um. Ken is injured, remember? And he asked Cara for help working out despite his injuries? So really, Cara didn't help him at all. In fact, she probably made his injuries worse. Good job, Cara.

I know Jillian is quitting next season, but come on, NBC. You've got to be able to find better trainers than this.
