We all know that behind the glitter and glamour of the modeling industry lies a world of insecurity and cut-throat competition. But The CW gives us a closer look with The Beautiful Life, which kicks off its pilot episode tonight at 9pm.
Taking the spotlight on The Beautiful Life are Raina Marinelli (Sara Paxton) and Chris Andrews (Benjamin Hollingsworth), two teenage models who are about to enter the fashion industry but not without some bitter rivals.
Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.
Raina, a beautiful girl with a mysterious past, immediately makes an unforgettable impression while strutting down the runway in a Zac Posen (guest starring as himself) gown during New York Fashion Week but consequently steals the spotlight from her friend Sonja Stone (Mischa Barton), who has been out of the country for mysterious reasons and is now desperate to reclaim her crown as top model. She then tries to convince her agent, Claudia Foster (Elle Macpherson) that she's still on the top of her game. But can she really reclaim her standing as the reining supermodel?
Meanwhile, Chris, a handsome Iowa farm boy, is also climbing his way up the fashion ladder, having just been discovered by an agent at the Covet Modeling Agency, which is also owned by former supermodel Claudia. Chris' inexperience almost derails his career but it's a good thing Raina comes to his rescue during his first photo shoot, showing him how to work the camera.
As Chris and Raina get to know each other, Chris becomes more and more impressed by Raina's generosity especially when she steps aside to make sure Sonja lands a job that will resurrect her career. However, after an ugly scene with an agent, Chris is left to question whether he can survive in this world of dangerous excess and fleeting fame.
